Barcelona- who to fly with?

Just wondering if anyone knows of cheap flights to Barcelona?
I have been with Ryan Air previously but was not impressed that 'Barcelona' turned out to be about 1hr 30 from the city itself and 40 euros for the priviledge of sitting on a crowded bus! I'm also wanting to take a full sized suitcase.

Fly with easyjet, they go into BCN and allow you to carry a suitcase of 20kgs for £18 per person

  • Ryanair have now moved into (or are about to move into) Barcelona El Prat - the main airport in Barcelona. They aren't completely sacking off Girona and Reus but I know that the Leeds - Girona route is one that has been replaced with a Leeds - Barcelona El Prat route. No doubt others are the same.

    Hi,

Depends where you live really! I went to Barcelona (Reus) for £12 return with Ryanair (including all taxes and charges - £12 total!). This was from Birmingham Int Airport in the Summer.

The bus wasn't 40 euro's, It was either 12 or 13 euros one way.

So in total it cost £36 or £38 including the flight and bus transfers to Barcelona.

I always go with Easyjet, as they go to BCN and it's a shortish cheap bus ride to town from there.

I would have flown to Barcelona with Easyjet, however they dont fly to and from Birmingham, therefore Ryanair with the bus transfer was the next best option :-D

I suppose it depends where you live. I could have gone via Easyjet but would have had to drive and pay for parking at the airport which would have been much more expensive.:)

We did bournemouth to girona earlier this year.

I was so impressed with Girona thought it to be totally stunning, and we wondered to ourselves how many people simply get on a bus at girona to barc and never even see Girona.

We took the train from Girona to barc as well takes about the same time as the coach.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Don't forget that easyJet are now using buses between aircraft and the terminal at BCN for flights to/from the UK and thus speedy boarding may not offer the same as an airbridge.

  • Thanks everyone, I'll probably go for Easy Jet as went with Ryanair last time from Bournemouth and at least I know there's not another journey on the other side of the flight! Although it is very handy to know they have changed the Leeds-Girona flight.
There's a few of us going who are all over the country at the moment so could fly from a number of places! Will put it to them...
Thanks again for your responses! :)

You keep saying this but have been provided with instances where this isn't the case.

It's certainly not the rule at the moment
