2 months FREE DVD rentals (Empire) with box of Matchmakers-half price (99p) in Tesco!

Noticed this advertised in my TV mag this week so looked out for some Matchmakers when shopping today as haven't used a free trial with empire yet. Found Matchmakers in tesco's, on offer at half price for 99p!

As the closing date is not until next year("Closing date for receipt of applications is midnight 30.06.2011") I am going to activate mine so that we can have DVDs over the christmas hols :-)

    You're wrong :p
Grabbit's for short-term offers not 9-month expiry dates on free trials. This is a freebie (low spend) :)

No it is a grabbit. :wall:
The reduced price at Tesco is not valid for 6 months, I accept it is a freebie but it is ALSO a grabbit, to get it at its lowest possible price and 'Grabbit while you can'!!

    Nice grabbit thanks
  • I have just tried to activate the free trial but without success phoned empire to query it and they said because I had a free trial a few years ago with one of their related companies (think it was Lidl Movies) I was not entitled to another one. Have phoned up Quality Street careline who said they have had quite a few complaints about this and they were looking into it but will send me a refund for my chocs in the post. There is nothing on the box or on Quality Street terms and conditions that say its not available if you have already had a free trial in the past. Number for Quality Street careline is 0080063785385 in case anyone else has the same problem HTH

They are run by Outnow Entetainment Ltd which was previously MyMovieStream. The T&C don't say you cannot use if you have previously had a free trial http://www.qualitystreet.co.uk/empire/Public/Terms.aspx but it does say in the EmpireMovieClub T&C http://www.empiremovieclub.co.uk/guides/tandcs.aspx
"Free Trials are only available to new subscribers to the services. Previous subscribers or trialists of the services or any other DVD rental service operated by us do not qualify for a further Free Trial except by personal invitation at our sole discretion. Only one Free Trial may be redeemed per household."

you cant use it if you have had a membership before but it doesnt state that on the box so i argued it.

Empire are not the best to be with because they are slow at sending out the dvds but if you do want this offer, i have a spare code which is:
    4HKT 677W 4TT7
Money makes the world go mad, the world go mad, the world go mad! :wall:
  • Just an update I received a £4 voucher from Quality Street for the refund of my matchmakers. Thought this was an end to the matter until I received an email from Empire a week or so ago apologising for the problem and inviting me to do the 2 month free trial. So it looks like you can now apply even if you've had a free trial in the past.
