where to look for London hotels for a couple and baby 14 months old

nothing too fancy, due to cost ;-)
but would be nice to have something half decent, even with a pool for the little one would be great.

in or around London area in November probably a weekend

You could have a look at the budget hotels such as www.travelodge.co.uk, www.premierinn.com, or Holiday Inn 2 for 1 nights link. The Crowne Plazas may have a pool on the HI site, but the other budget hortels are basic accomodation.

I have stayed at the City of London Apex hotel previously, if you book far enough in advance you can get some super deals which are comparable to the likes of Travelodge etc except you are staying in a 4 star hotel! On the date I booked I got a double room for £90, travelodge round the corner was £80 - I preferred to pay the extra £10 for the extra bit of luxury.

Hotels in the city of london tend to be quieter and therefore they offer great deals.

Holiday Inn do family rooms, when you put in the occupants put in 2 and 1 child and it will come up with hotels that have availability left. Some may have family rooms booked up and only have double rooms left. You could also ring the hotel you want direct and see if they allow a baby in a cot in a double room (as some will do this for free).

Have a look at this, central location http://www.lancaster-hall-hotel.co.uk/

For budget accommodation check their Youth Wing, the rooms are cheaper there because the services are shared.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
