new york los angeles and vegas advice please

Can anyone point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a company who does the three cities above as a package. I know it's usually LA, Las Vegas and San Francisco however I'd rather go to new york than San Francisco.

Thanks in advance.

Have you look in to booking it all yourself? That's what I used to do. You can get flight to NY, internal flights from NY to LV, drive from LV to LA. Return flight home.
    It's very easy, and fun!
That way you decide how long to spend in each city, not the tour.

Depending on the time you have available one of the best ways of seeing the three places you mention as well as seeing a large part of the country is auto-driveaway, whereby you drive other people's cars across the States for the cost of the petrol alone.

I've done this three times over the years and never failed to have fun - they normally give you a week to get from New York to the West Coast which is easily doable and allows you time in places like Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

Fly into New York and out of LA - it is the ultimate road trip and highly recommended for the adventurous.

Thanks for the suggestions I will look into it.
  • Can also recommend the drive away option, I did a few years ago and it was great fun - bear in mind any damage tot he car will have to be paid for or will be taken out of any deposit you leave with them :0)
My post count doesn't reflect the amount of time spent on here :0) I just keep forgetting my login details - now saved.

As others have said, I would forget a package and book myself.

Done it several times. For flights look at www.kayak.co.uk or www.opodo.co.uk or www.travelocity.co.uk and choose the multiflights option.

Alternatively, get a return to New York ( or wherever you fancy ) and then get an internal flight/s elsewhere.

When you have flights booked, get onto tripadvisor and start hotel hunting.

    Its easy.

You'll get much more of a feel about America if you make a road trip.
Okay there can be some long stretches of empty black-top across mile after mile of the flat MidWest.

But listening to US radio while cruising along in a car that virtually drives itself watching the scenery is a joy - and just a few miles off the Interstates are small communities that have almost never seen a British visitor.

A couple of sites to whet your appetite

I've just got back from a similar trip - we used a company called American Sky (I can't post links yet) and they were great - very efficient and tailored the holiday to us. We did the best of the west tour which was LA, Palm Springs, Phoenix, Grand Canyon, Vegas,Death Valley, Yosemite, San Francisco, Monterey, Ventura and back to LA.
I think if you haven't done this kind of thing before this is the best way to do it, I'm so glad I didn't book it all and arrange it myself! I also don't think I would have been able to get the flights/hotels/car package as cheap if I'd have booked them myself as tour companies get special rates (unless I'd stayed in cheaper hotels/motels which I didn't)
    Enjoy!

We booked our America Holiday with Trail Finders, they were brillant, plus you get the insurances that wouldn't get by booking yourself.

We told them what fights we wanted, types of hotel we like i.e 3 star must have a pool and they did the rest they also did theatre tickets too and car hire all for one price.
