London Eye - will i wish i hadnt done it?

I am going on the London Eye next weekend with my 9 year old daughter and my mum.

I am absolutely 'bricking' it. I am a bit of a 'scaredy cat' about most things - motorways, fairground rides, boats, etc etc.

Has anybody else wished they hadnt got on it? Or am I worrying about nothing, wont notice that I am up in the clouds and have a fab time.:D

Or will I be the gibbering idiot in the middle of the pod, on the floor, eyes tightly shut counting down for half an hour?

Experiences anyone?

Thanks:)

You really are worrying about nothing... it'll be fine... if you really don't like heights then just sit down on the seat in the middle of the pod and stay put for the half hour of so it takes for the trip... it travels very slowly so you get time to see the sights if you want to.. you won't be up in the clouds unless its a particularly foggy day.. I went with my daughters and grandchildren and everyone loved it...

    Hi warez22,

The London Eye is fab, moves really slowly is very stable and you get great views. No need to stand as there is a bench seat you can sit down on and still see everything, trains in the main line station, lots of landmarks and even Wembley stadium on a clear day.

No need to worry at all, enjoy :)

Yes, it's not like a ferris wheel which some people expect! You hardly notice you're moving. If you're fine being on the top floor of a building looking out at a view from behind bricks and glass, you'll be fine on the Eye!

    Enjoy!

Thanks guys, you have made me feel better.

I shant give it a seconds thought now until I get there (and be careful not to look up at how high the flaming thing is!).

Will let you know after I have been on it how I got on.

    Many thanks.:D

  • I hate heights and the feeling of not being in control, yet I loved it. The view will distract you. If you go on one of the first 'flights' when it opens it wont be as busy - our capsule only had eight people in it.
  • You will be fine, I went on it with my Mum and Sister who are non to keen on heights and they just sat down when we got near the top until we were half way down. They still both enjoyed it and have done it again since.

Where-as I stood right by the window looking at the beautiful views, it's not something I would rush to do again but am pleased I have been on it all the same!

I was really anxious about going on the London eye but once I got i, I soon forgot my fear. The only thing I still hate though is getting on and off, while it's moving! If you watch the amazing 4D show before you get on the eye, I'm sure it will inspire you to take a 'flight' on the eye even more.

As people have already said, it is totally different to normal ferris wheels and it "looks" 100's of times safer than those copy cat wheels that have appeared in almost every city (I'm still not brave enough to go on them).

Seriously, you barely know you are moving. Sometimes you stop (for example to let disabled people out of the pod as generally the wheel continually moves), and you can't tell the difference, thats how slow it moves!

The views are spectacular, am sure that will distract you from everything else. Enjoy.

I couldnt do it, as I am absolutely terrified of heights, but I hope you manage it.
