HBOS Student Account 2008/09

Hi, I was wondering if someone could confirm the details of the Bank of Scotland's student account I opened in 08/09 - I can't easily find the bumf I received upon opening my account. I'm sure I'll have had a guaranteed overdraft of some kind (I know it wouldn't have been the full £3000), but what's happened to me is somehow my account's not been down as having one at all, and has never been given one, even though I attempted to broach the subject not long after I opened it - and so I've incurred penalty charges the handful of times I've gone a few pounds below zero - but well within whatever allowed overdraft I believe I ought to have had. So the situation is this - if I can confirm that I'm supposed to have had an overdraft allowance the whole time, I want my money back, but it isn't a 'standard' reclaim because it's to do with an error on their part, not an issue over the legitimacy of a 'properly incurred' charge, if you see what I mean. At the moment, they won't even let me see my statements beyond the last 6 months to find out what has been taken from me (I identified the issue some time ago but have been unable to attend to it until now, so I've been even more diligent in avoiding going into the red once I realised they were charging me). Thanks for any help anyone can offer - the main thing is I'd like to clarify whether I definitely ought to have had some kind of overdraft allowance, even only a hundred pounds would do the trick.
