Please make me feel better by telling me you've done it too!

I am mortified.

I have sent a text message intended for my hubby to someone else by mistake. It's NOT 'that' type of message but I'm just devastated. When I've got over it a bit I'll explain what I did but in the meantime does anyone have a story of a text message/email accidently ending up in the wrong hands to make me feel better?! :o

Yes! I sent a text message about someone to the person I was moaning about. They weren't best pleased, but given that they were acting like an idiot they couldn't really complain about what I said (and it wasn't THAT bad)!

I think we can all remember the Alastair Campbell gaff when he sent his email to everyone in his address book by mistake.
Hope you didn't break any confidences but I'm sure by this time next month you'll see the funny side.

    Devastated? Really?

I'm sure it's not as bad as you think. And yes, I have.. a boyfriend of mine had the same initial as a friend in my phone book. And this *was* that type of message ;)

I'd sent a message to a load of people on Facebook once and someone replied and a "catch up" conversation ensued. I didn't realise that I was replying to everyone included in the original message until one kind person messaged me to let me know. Thankfully the damage wasn't that bad but that was a lesson learnt. I did hear of a friend who made referrence to someones loose morals in rather graphic terms and then sent it to that person by mistake. Thankfully I always remember something an old boss told me "you can say it with flowers, you can say it with ink, but whatever you do, don't say it with ink!" I know a text isn't quite ink but I remember the sentiment and am always careful and will go back and edit before I send.
  • Yes! Just before our ds was born I set up a message on both mine and my dh's phone with all the details minus the bits dh would need to put in like date, time and weight, this meant our chosen name was on the text and it was set up to send to about 25people, when it came to saving it I press the send button, I went into panic mode, as it was the day before I was being induced and didn't want everyone to get the message early, so as I couldn't stop messages I panicked and pulled the battery of the bak of my phone, when I switched it back on, it had been sent to 2 people, one was a close friend who I sent a message saying please ignore and the other was my uncle who I had to reach so that he didn't call my dad and ruin the surprise of the name!

M dh still maintains I'm a dumb !!!!! and this time round I'll just give him a list to text himself!

Not quite the same vein, but I did once email the sales figures/costings for company A to company B and vice versa.... (and our two biggest customers and rivals)

Luckily at the time, all emails were held on the main server and sent in bulk every few minutes. My best course of action was to run like hell and unplug the server which went down badly with everyone in the building but at least I kept my job, because if that email had gone out......

I was having a whinge via email about my boss to a colleague. The boss had just emailed me about something else she was palming off on me.

I clicked on reply instead of forward.

My boss and I had a meeting that afternoon...
