Miracle products - what's your biggest ever waste of money?

After finishing off a pot of La Prairie moisturiser which I paid around £90 for and seeing no difference I wondered what "miracle" products others have bought and found to be utterly useless.
I'll also own up to trying Botox at a cost of £300 or so a time for crows feet and seeing very little difference - had 4 treatments over a 9 month period or so and then decided it really wasn't worth it.
I know it's a personal thing and what doesn't work for one person may be perfect for another but I'm curious to know.......

Clothes!! i buy them, then decide they dont look good. Or i'll buy lots and they dont match so have a lot of good pieces that doesnt work together.
I dont think ive bought any make up thats been wasteful. Im sure that £90 moisturiser felt good to put on? I dunno what you wanted to achieve from the moisturiser but as long as it moisturised i suppose thats the main thing!0 -
something from clinique that was for dark blemishes. came in a slim cannister and was....well, rubbish!0

weight loss pills (years ago) before I figured out that they never work!0

Underware which shapes. Unless its very well made, it rolls into one band (or doenut!) around your body normally in a really unfortunate place and 'enhances' curves rather then suppressing them!
M&S have some good stuff (but not every shapewear item by all means!), Tesco, Primark and just about anywhere else I have not had good experiences with. I hear Spanx is good but I am too wary of losing more money or vouchers (Surveys!) to things which don't work!
Kerastase Chroma Riche shampoo, masque or conditioner. OK, so strictly speaking, not my money (was a gift!) but did nothing to help maintain my colour. My sister would like to add Redken Colour Extend to that list!
Sally Hansen Miracle Cure. Didn't really stop nail splitting at all. Was good as a top coat/base coat. Improve your protein intake, (eggs, dairy, meat, fish, tofu, nuts etc) that will do a much better job for your nails!
Mitchum. Just don't even go there! Yuck! (And no, it didn't stop sweating at ALL!)
Nivea Cellulite gel/cream. Didn't work. But then nothing has (and the adding more exercise, drinking more water and eliminating caffeine are all myths too- mine increased when I exercised more, became a health food freak eliminating everything from fizzy diet cola drinks to any carbs, and for about 2 years had no more caffeine then what was in my non fat PG Tips morning cuppa which I wouldn't even always finish!) Luckily it does do a nice job of fragrancing skin and acting as a minimal moisturiser so all is not lost!
Veet/Nair/any hair removing cream for the bikini line or under arms.. It just doesn't remove ANY hair at all! Yet always leaves me burnt. Very frustrating and an easy way to almost literally chuck money down the drain. (The leg version works fine by the way).0 -
Genie facial cream from QVC, it was years ago and I got my money back, it was exactly the same as the Aloe Vera Gel I had been using that cost 99p.
Stila lipgloss that cost £20 and was totally the wrong colour for me, shame I didnt realise that until I'd been using it for about 3 weeks:oThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
:T yes, and it makes that horrible smell.

"motivational" cds I never listened too. Mostly cheap stuff but one set was £170  they're still lying in a cupboard (most are still shrink wrapped)0

I think I've just spotted a money-making opportunity - can anyone come up with "a new motivational cd, guaranteed to motivate you to unwrap and actually listen to all your previous motivational cd's"?
We could make a fortune....
