I cant find the debt recovery comany to pay off my loan. Any ideas welcome please?!?!
In 2006 I took out a loan from Alliance & Leicester to pay off a few debts I had (thought consolodation was a good idea!). I had a lot of time off sick followed by me resigning, this obviously meant I could not pay the monthly instalments. Anyway, I buried my head in the sand, moved a few times and tried to forget I got the loan in the first place. Stupid I know but I didnt know what to do.
I never heard anything from them after that.
2 years ago I contacted CAB for advice on how to get hold of them (as Alliance & Leicester had been taken over by Santander) and they made phone call after phone call to establish who I needed to speak to. Eventually they found out that a debt collecter was in charge of my debt but they could not get speak to anyone which lead CAB to think that the debt collecters had gone bust too.
This year I received a letter from Santander at my current address regarding the loan. I called them several times and was given the same response "your debt is no longer in our hands so you will need to look at your credit report to find the company responsible". I did as they stated but the 'Lender Address' is "Not Known" and the 'Lender Contact' is "Not available" - that quoted exactly from my credit report.
I am now in a position to pay this back and have been putting money into a savings account each month so if they do contact me I can offer them what I have and go from there. Is there anything else I can do? Or do I just wait and keep saving the money? I just dont know what to do!
