in Credit cards
i have been a barclaycard customer for over 6 years , and was given a initial card apr 27.9
i got the apr dropped to 17.9 but they wont allow me to do balance transfers!!!
i phoned up regarding this and the fact that i have had the account that long and am still on ititial card! they said at the moment they cant upgrade me?
6 years later, no late payments ever, never gone over the limit and this is all they can do?
do you think i should close the account, or keep it open just because ive had it 6 years and and it looks good on my credit file that i have had an account for that long??
i wanna close because of how bad that i cant even do a balance transfer, or upgrade?:o
any advice appreciated

Whewn i asked to close my barclay card after being a customer of many years and never carrying a balance past the statement date i got a very nice " No problem sir we shall close that straight away for you good bye" so much for the customer retention, talking of which egg have me on 17% apr for my cedit card and 6.9 % for egg money, i sent them a message asking why the huge differant in apr and why they werent in the same range they said because i didnt qualify for a lower rate on my egg card but did on my egg money .... its getting closed soon .. believe it or not im going back to barclays going to try get there simpicity card with 6.8 % Apr ... hope my credit report stands up to there standerds. If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

its quite bad, as all my cc have been really keen to keep custom and lowered apr and special offers etc, exept barclaycard ( apart from lowereing the apr) which is still my highest apr card!
they said we cant see nothing wrong on the screen, just it looks into the way you run other accounts, ( never a late payment etc, not maxed on cards etc) i am that angry i really do wanna close just to give me satisfaction lol0 -
Only really keeping my Barclaycard just to have it as I have been a customer for 15 years. Once I told them I was going to close it they dropped the APR to 9.9% fixed for life. Since they got rid of Nectar I am just not using it.
Just got a BA AMEX card which rewards me with things that I actually use (ie BA Miles) and if I spend enough they will give me a free companion ticket.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
I was a Barclaycard customer for over 16 yrs, this was during the period I thought being a loyal customer meant something. Found out the hard way it meant nothing and closed the account.
Mind you I can beat that by a long way. My great great grandfather opened an account with a new bank in Jarrow in about 1850. My great grandfather, my grandfather, my dad and I opened accounts with the same bank, which was part of Lloyds by the time I became a customer. So we banked with the same bank for about 150 yrs.
That sort of loyalty meant nothing either, went to an appointment to transfer money from my savings for a mortgage deposit. When I got there I was told the manager wasn't there and that I couldn't have my money. I closed the account on the spot.
My advice would be to look around and find a better deal, switch to it. Keep looking and switch regularly to get the best deal, customer loyalty means nothing to banks.0 -

thanks for all the advice , i doubt they will try and keep my custom x0
