Quick question: child support

Hi
please excuse short message but I'm on my iPhone. Do any of you have much experience with the child support agency? My partner has a child with an ex that he is fully aware he needs to be paying for. He and the mother really do not get along and he doesn't see either of them. Until recently she refused to accept money from him saying she didn't need it but around 6 weeks ago she made an application to the csa. He completed all the forms the csa sent him around 3 weeks ago and still we have heard nothing back in terms of when payments will start.
His wage varies every month (anything between £850 and could go up to £1850) so am not sure how they work out an appropriate level
any advise from anyone who's gone through this already?
Thanks x

Hi - if his wage varies a lot, they may look at his annual figure and use that to make an assesment.
He's looking at paying 15% of his average take home pay. This is reduced if he has the child to stay overnight at least once a week (52 nights a year minimum).
He will be expected to pay from the date the CSA first got in contact with him, so ideally should be putting that 15% away somewhere now, so he doesn't start with arrears.
There is a CSA board on here where you may get more answers.:beer:0 -
Look on the child support sub-board for info. Keep a record of all communication with them, ask them to put it in writing, send any letters registered post and signed for.
Start putting away the amount you calculate from the CSA website or the arrears will hit you hard. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0
