Spacesaving in a small kitchen

We're buying a biggish house but it only has a small 'U-shaped' kitchen (9ft8 x 7ft3).
The kitchen needs replacing and I wondered what company provided the best spacesaving units with lots of storage solutions. I'm already considering having the washing machine moved to the integral garage to free up space but would struggle to store all our kitchen stuff if it was left as it is.
Any recommendations?

With such a small space, you need to use every inch. It might be worth having it tailor fitted by a joiner rather than 'off the peg'. Have storage and shelving up to the ceiling.
If it's an old house, you can use a feature rack suspended from the ceiling for pots and pans.
Washing machines can also go upstairs. Mine is in what used to be the airing cupboard.0 -
Use a joiner rather than a kitchen fitter. He'll be able to suggest solutions that you've never thought of (if he's any good.)" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Pan drawers are great for getting a lot in. Because you can pull drawers all the way out you can use the whole surface area of each drawer and still see what you're getting out. In a cupboard you need to leave space to shuffle stuff around to look.
And larder units. More storage space.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Both Howdens and Magnet Trade have some good space saving devices. I think corner cupboards are excellent (ie the L shaped ones) They have proper corner style doors that open fully so you can use the full corner: far better then carousels or Magic Corners. the 300mm pull out larders can help use all available space. Howdens also do a drawer to go under the oven housing as well as plinth drawers, which all help with storage.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

I'd definitely go with drawers rather than cupboards. The majority of our kitchen we have IKEA drawer units and they are like the tardis! You can fit so much in because as previous poster said you use all the space right to the back of the unit. IKEA also do the plinth drawers as well. And would also defnitely recommend the larder unit. Again you can fit so much in, we have one tall larder unit which holds all our food stuffs in the kitchen and I have a lot!0
