Hiya
Ive bought some white broccoli and cauliflower plants and im not allowed to dig up the lawn in my rented house, so they are going to ahve to go in pots/troughs im afraid
Just wondering how far apart / how many to put in a standard long plastic trough (like you get from Wilkinsons)? Or would the free flower pots from the supermarket be more suitable with one plant per pot? The plants are well established and are about 6-8 inches high
Thanks
Welsh

Each of my cauliflower and brocoli had a spread of three feet at the front, back and sides. They take up an awful lot of room, I'm afraid.0

As Kay wrote above, these veg plants do take a good deal of room. However, i have cabbage growing in one of my raised beds and i am also trying them in Morrisons buckets too. The ones growing in buckets are doing just as well as the ones in the raised bed. Give it a go, 1 veg plant per pot though

Thanks Katholicos, am going to try the flower pots then me thinks. I used to get my flower pots through work, as they ended up coming in in some trays we receive
So I need to get some from a proper supermarket. Wheres best? And will they just give them to me? If so who do i ask?
Thanks for any helpRe-embracing the Money Saving Way of Life after a little lapse!0 -
I think Asda and the Co op give them away free, Morrisons charge a £1 per ten ish.
Just ask any member of staff around the flower area, the more senior in years the better I found.
Not sure about Tesco or SainsburysFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Ive got a cauli growing, for christmas in my slow cooker, ive never had any success with anything cooked in it so i thought rather than waste it lol.
Try freegle for the flowerpots. Ive only seen them in Morrisons, 8 for 99p which is still pretty good value imo.
They are found under the tables that the produce sits on, iykwim
Good luck
