Does it matter which spouse takes out the insurance?

I am buying a house that will be in my name only. My partner who lives with me is organising the insurance. Is it okay for him to take out the insurance on the house even though it is not his name on the mortgage?

Any advice appreciated!

The person with the financial interest and holding the mortgage should be the one to arrange the Buildings Insurance.

If you don't get it in your name, then you risk it being invalid.

With regard to the Contents Insurance, if you jointly own the Contents, then ideally it should be in both names, but either can arrange.
