Finance approved but not credit cards?

I have a few finance agreements for different items: car, camera, games console.

I have always paid on time, never defaulted and never needed a guarantor to obtain the finance.

I applied for a credit card the other day to purchase a holiday with and had my application rejected. This is not the first time that this has happened.

Does anybody know why i can obtain finance no trouble, but am unable to get a credit card.

I have checked the steps to boost the credit score and can't see anywhere that i am going wrong.

I had this problem a while back. I ended up having a chat to my bank manager who sorted it out. It was a pain having to take time off work to sort it, but well worth it. Even though the banks credit terms aren't great.

Have you checked your credit file?

Experian, Equifax are the 2 main ones.

Free 30 day trial but you will need to put in your card details.

Get your report then canx straight away.

In december i got finance for £7500 for half a car, but I couldent get a credit card last month.

Everyone uses different people.

it's easier to get finance than CCs or loans...the criteria are just much more lax

How much debt do you have? That could be the reason?

Including car i'd say about £8k
