Hi
Just about to renew insurance but I am wavering on paying the extra £25 for legal cover, its £25 better spent elsewhere really.
I have had a look around as I was wondering do I really need this legal cover but I then found this company offering free cover for the duration of my new policy. http://helpinsureme.co.uk/free-motor-legal-protection.html
I am being a bit cautious about actually using them so I wondered if anyone on the forums has actually used them or what are your thoughts looking at the document??
Help is appreciated
Thanks

Accident manangement or legal assistance is big business in insurance at the moment. It does not suprise me that firms are now offering this for free considering the amount of money they make out of claims.
I have personally never heard of motorplus but thats not suprising as there are so many companies doing this. I would be cautious about using any accident manangement company as there are a few bad ones out there. These companies make money by slowing a claim down to make more money from hire cars, credit repair and personal injury.
There are also some very good accident management companies and they are well worth the £15 - £30 fee that you pay. Firms such as AIM, LV, Fortis are reputable companies that have the best intertest of the policyholder at heart.
In my opinion I would prefer to take out the legal cover offered by a broker or an Insurance company rather than an unknown firm on a comparison site. My wife had the misfortune of a bad claims management company and it was a nightmare. There was no fewer than 5 different firms involved with the claim all trying to make as much money as possible and completely missing the point of looking after the customer. My advice, dont take the chance.I am an Insurance & Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. If you have the misfortune to need someone to deal with a claim for your uninsured losses, then bear in mind that if it involves big bucks, your insurer will merely sell you on to a claims handler anyway and make a nice commission out of you on top of your £25!
Also bear in mind no-one will want to know if you don't have a good chance of winning the liability argument.0 -

This isn't my personal experience.
I've had a claim before and it was dealt with by a dedicated in house set of solicitors and not passed onto a 3rd party claims handler.
Perhaps some companies just pass on claims, but they don't all do that.
It's very tricky I agree to know who you are dealing with.
Personal recommendation is great if you can get it.0 -
Thanks for your comments, I will consider my options carefully and it may be money well spent for peace of mind.
