Where is the best place to get a new loo and shower, at a bargain price?

We're going to have a downstairs cloakroom (why are they called that?? it's a loo for goodness sake!) and a shower built in our current house to try and stop the wear on the stair carpet and me (3 little girls to toilet and/or nappy change).
We just need something basic and work starts in 3 weeks, started looking for something online but I'm not sure which companies are reliable etc.
Ideally we wont the whole lot for under £400, can it be done?

toilet
basin
shower
enclosure
tray
taps
Really appreciate any advice
thanks

Try B&Q they have some fantastic deals on their bathroom kits which include toilet, basen tapes and all fittings.
  • Have a look at Screwfix too.
It's also worth looking in Yellow pages and phoning around bathroom suppliers and builder's merchants to see if there are any deals on.
    Happy chappy
  • Have you tried Focus? They always have great deals on bathrooms.
    Or Wickes.

Online there is Plumbworld.net ( ithink thats the right URL).

Maybe you have a local plumbers merchants. There always worth having a trip to.

  • I really think you will be lucky to get that list for under £400. You certainly won't get a decent shower enclosure at that price. The suggestions you have been given for sourcing the materials are all reasonable, but IMHO, your budget isn't.
I am also wary (and you should be too) of saying you will get it all for under £400 and the work is starting in 3 weeks.
    Is there any tiling involved?

    Thanks for all the ideas.
when i said i'd like it for £400, i just meant i'd like a bargain!! we can run to more, and the building work is not included in that .
bobproperty could you explain why you'd be wary, i'm not sure i get your drift at the moment.
    thanks naomi

    Cloakroom suite set £150 ish
Shower, what sort? Electric - Decent one at least £120-£150 Mixer - Try ALDI (believe it or not)
Shower Enclosure and Tray - that's the problem. I've been trying to find the posts on another forum but a lot of the cheaper cubicles are cheap for a reason, they aren't that well made and they can be a pig to fit.
