PPI questionaire

Hi
Can any one help please.
i am in the process of reclaiming PPI against HFC/Hamilton and they have sent a questionaire which asks questions such as " how would you have repaid if you lost your income".

I want to leave blank because if I was to say I wouldnt, then they have a case for stating the PPI was valid.

Will leaving blank work against me?

any help appreciated

    Hi and welcome

    Good luck with your reclaiming.

You could write "non applicaple" something like that.

It could have been that your family could have helped anyway.;) (not saying this is the case) but maybe you did have other means of paying your loan if it came to it, or maybe your employer protected you for this.

If i were you i would put the truth, if you were eligible for unemployment insurance then the ppi was valid. If you were covered by your employer for sick pay, then put that. But i would put the truth as if you dont you may get caught out. They may ask for proof.

Has this loan been paid off in full? I would be inclined to think that if it has then you didn't need the product?

What are your reasons for claiming? This would be a better starting point. I think these forms are designed to make you dwell on certain things too much in order to put you off.

I agree - tell the truth.

Oh yes of course say the truth......, when I meant "NA", I just meant if this did not apply to you as such, but if you did have other ways to have this covered in case of the worse happening its best to say.;)

  • Mrs A - what difference does the loan being paid off make to the claim? It appears to suggest that you think that if they haven't had to use the cover, then they didn't need it? If that's the case, I've just had a year of trouble free driving - does that mean i didn't need my car insurance and i can claim that back from direct line?

Please remember that PPI can be useful to people who actually end up having to rely on it. it is there to help during periods of income loss. Just because you don't or didn't use it, doesn't mean that it was miss-sold.
We've spent decades teaching people about their rights, but nothing about their responsibilities.

Yes,my thoughts too.I ask people to write in their words then there is nothing complicated to dwell on.Just a simple " i was mis sold this ppi because" is enough, it does not have to be the magna carta ,just plain and simple.

The company is trying to establish whether they have mis-sold the PPI.

If, for example, you were retired at the time of the sale of PPI then the insurance would be useless to you. Did you have some pre-condition at the time of sale which would have invalidated any claim you made. . . etc., etc., etc.

I suggest that, before answering any questions, you read about how the FOS deals with these claims.

    Good luck, anyway.

Yes commonsense just as in the same way as being sold a policy you don't actually need eh? A lot of these policies were mis-sold and customers weren't advised they could buy insurance independently.

The OP could have been made redundant and received redundancy pay, a relative could have paid, they could have received company sick pay. When you reclaim you don't always think of everything and that's where others can help.

To liken PPI to car insurance is a poor example really as you have to have this as a legal requirement if your vehicle goes onto a public highway.

PPI is not a legal requirement when taking out a loan nor do you have to take a policy with the loan provider. There are other options.
