Verucca Removal - Laser

Hi,

I'm booked in for a verucca removal from a SKN clinic, they have said it will be using a laser.

Obviously it's not very MSE, the consultation alone is £140, plus the cost of the treatment (which I think it £200), but i've had it for over ten years, and it is hurting when I walk.

Has anyone had experience of the procedure? Any tips?

Thanks!

No experience but I would be interested in yours once you have had it done :) I have two and have tried just about everything from freezing, alternatives and the ridiculous, all to no avail!
  • It's only next week, so i'll be sure to let you know :)

I'm worried that it's going to hurt, but it's worth a try. I've already tried freezing it, using bazooka, using the acid plasters, even tried digging it out and nothing has worked.
  • Don't give up hope of your verruccas ever going. My son had about 12 on one foot, the biggest patch being about 3 cms across. The big one came when he was 5 and the rest developed after. We went to the docs, tried bazooka, wartner, filing them -nothing worked, he was desperate after this time because he's an athlete and they were affecting his running.

Then a year ago, he went off to Uni in London and when he came home at the start of the summer, he said 'you've got to see my foot, something weird's going on' I thought 'oh no, his verruccas are infected or something' (a mum's irrational thinking) but no, they were healing up! - new healthy skin had grown in their place. These verruccas had resisted all treatment for 15 years when the doctor told me they'd go on their own within a couple of years. The only thing that's changed is his environment, perhaps London water is the cure?

  • Henry, that sounds really expensive! I was booked into to have the laser treatment done, but it was only going to cost about £25-30 per treatment at a smaller non chain chiropodist. Might be worth a look??

I didn't have it done as I'd just had some salysitic acid/silver nitrate treatment and my foot didn't heal in time for the laser to be done. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't hurt and is the pefered treatment for children. Aparently it just zaps the verucca, then your body gets rid of it. And you dont have to have bandages and creams that never stay put.

My foot has healed up now and there isn't a sign of a verucca, but once there is I will defo get the lazer done.

Good luck and hope it works for you!

Thanks, but I really have tried EVERYTHING!

I have a weak immune system apparently, which makes it harder to fight off. I had one previously, which I managed to dig out, but this one is resisting everything!
  • Just wondering if you had it done and how it went Henry?

Now that you mention it - mine has gone too and I spent most of the last year living in London.

    Hi

Verruca's like me aswell :o My immune system just doesn't seem to be able to get rid of them and I seem really susceptible to them. I had laser treatment at a local chiropodists for far less than that. It worked well. I've since been back to the same chiropodist with another verucca and he used salicylic acid (I think!). Some sort of acid anyway, so I'm not sure why he's no longer using the laser. Maybe have a look at some local chiropodists before you spend so much money. As Pink*Kitchen*Lady says it doesn't hurt at all and there's no need for plasters etc.

Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

I had the first "round" of laser last week, I've got to have another at the end of Sept, and a final one 3 weeks later.

It hurt, a LOT! It's still sore now if I put any pressure on it, but it looks ok. The doctor has advised me to use Bazooka everyday inbetween the treatments, as it helps to leave the verucca itself "open" and at the surface, which helps the laser to be more effective.

    I really hope it works!
