I've just received a new Santander Visa Debit card and a letter stating that it replaces my Unexpired Visa Electron card.I've now been on the telephone for over an hour asking whether the new card will act as an Electron card (No fee's for Easyjet)and no one can tell me the answer.Just wondered if anyone else has had their card replaced and knows the answer.I also find it strange that they are replacing the card when the original Electron card hasn't expired.

Go onto the Easyjet website, make a dummy booking and you'll have your answer on screen before your very eyes in a matter of a few minutes.
Much more reliable than asking a Santander CSA.0 -
As an A&L saver I tried to open a second savings account when it went over to Santander. From what I could gather they needed me to have a debit card to operate the account. I expressed surprise at this as I just wanted to stick a lump sum in for a year, but was virtually told that the card was compulsory. I protested as I don't need yet another card and it could be a security risk if someone else got hold of it. After consulting a supervisor I was reluctantly told I could open a savings account without a card but 'might find it difficult to operate the account'. I took the hint, as I was already finding it difficult to open let alone operate, said goodbye and took my savings elsewhere. Is Santander forcing everybody to have a debit card no matter what kind of account you want to open?0

Thanks for all replies. The confusion was that although it didn't have Electron on the card,4 different people at Santander/A&L said don't worry it will act as an Electron card.I now know they were all lying through their teeth.0
