Repaying debts

Hi,

I got into trouble with Marks and Spencer because I was unable to pay for three months, as I was stuck ill abroad and unfortunately was not paying by direct debit!! On my return to UK, I have had phonecalls from a company called Rockwell but was advised by a friend not to speak to them. Meanwhile, I wrote to Marks and Spencer and told them what had happened and also sent a cheque for £250, (which they cashed), promising another within three weeks for £300, which I have done and asked for a direct debit form to set that up for future payments, but am still getting calls from Rockwell?! My friend advised me that as long as you pay and it is accepted, that there's nothing they can do, is this actually true, as I'm bewildered that Rockwell are still calling me?

Have you had a statement from M&S to show that they have credited your payments? It might be worth writing to M&S again to clarify who is dealing with the debt as they should tell you if they are passing it on. Good luck
