Bristow & Sutor

I had an amount outstanding of council tax £869. I have been making regular payments of £43 per week which is killing me. I have also recently split with my partner and have missed two payments.
I phoned them to inform them of my situation and they said the agreement had been stopped and bailiffs have been informed.
They asked I pay the full outstanding amount of £212. which I told them I dont have.
I have offered to make a payment this week but she said bailiffs will still visit my house.
After speaking to them again they said if I paid £102 I could carry on with the installments.
Today I have again requested they reduce my payments and had a reply stating they want the full amount by 6pm tonight.
I have now emailed the council and explained the situation and asked them to take the debt back (awaiting a reply).
If I am offering to pay something how can they send bailiffs round.
I am also worried that my son is at home when I am working and I have told him not to let anybody in - he is nearly 14.
I dont know what else I can do. It will be paid off in a couple more weeks aswell.

Best to telephone the council as it can be quicker and dealt with straight away.

Probaly best not to answer the door, unless you know for certain who it is
until you get it sorted with the council, if you dont answer the door the bailiff cant add monies on, they will just ask you to contact them, hopefully it will buy you a bit more time until you can pay off the debt. unfortunately councils dont mess about when it comes to paying council tax, i have been in your situation to many times unfortunatley
i hope you get it sorted
    all the best
