Hello,
I have signed a tenancy agreement with IQ in Bristol, and opted for payment via debit card (since I am not in the UK right now, and it would be a hassle to get direct debit sorted).
They've asked me to provide my card details either over phone or e-mail as they don't have a online payment gateway.
Is it okay (safe, smart) to do this? My card (Norwegian bank issued) comes with a authentication system that requires a disposable number when used online.
If my card is charged without my knowledge (later on) will I be able to reverse them?

they may find it hard to process, your bank may stop it as fraud0

I'd imagine they won't be putting it through as an online transaction, but rather as a 'Cardholder not present' transaction, so they shouldn't need the authentication code for online transactions.
If you are worried about giving your card details over the phone (I wouldn't recommend doing it via email), then why not ask them if you can transfer the money directly into their bank account - you could do this via your own online banking. I shouldn't think they would have a problem with this; my letting agents are the opposite - they don't take cards and require me to transfer the money into their account!0 -

The cardholder not present makes sense - i suppose that's how hotel reservations go through?
They don't take transactions from Banks (juts direct debit) but I can't authorise a direct debit now as they need me to mail in some forms and I am not in UK atm.0
