This doesn't appear to have been sent before?

Onetel are offering free evening and weekend calls (on their LeisureUKCalls tariff - normally £3.99 per month) for one year for those people signing up in February (before 28/2/05). They will apparently rebate £3.99 per month into the account before billing.

The advert is on their homepage (www.onetel.co.uk) and you can sign up directly from there. They work on either a dialler or on Carrier Pre-Select (we are on NTL therefore dialler, not sure if on BT you have to go CPS?). You can also get an additional £20 call credit for signing up online.

Also just had an e-mail from Mutualpoints offering 695 points for signing up to Onetel (in addition to the £20) - may be worth following the link off their site if you are a member? Other cashback sites may also be running deals on this but I have not checked.

Incidentally, I am an existing customer that downgraded from Leisure to the StandardUKCalls tariff last month - there doesn't appear to be anything on the advert that says this deal is not available to current customers - does anyone know if it is or not as I have never had any incentives from them?

Kind regards

  • Thanks. I'm an existing OneTel CPS customer (on StandardUKTalk - using OneTel for free weekend calls only) and, thanks to your post, have just changed online to LeisureUKTalk in accordance with the offer (there is a provision for existing customers to do so online, so it is 'allowed').

My billing date is the 7th of each month - so your post was perfectly timed for me! :D

What a pity I couldn't 'recommend' myself as well - just the one £20 call credit then!

It has to be done online - I started HERE, clicked on the purple Sign up now! button, then went straight to Checkout> - where I clicked I am an exisiting customer (login below) and logged in to proceed.

The whole thing took 3 minutes, even on 56k dialup.

Checking after I'd finished, my status now shows:
    Product/Service - 01*********
    Plan/Option - StandardUKTalk
Status - Active (Pending change: 07/02/2005 LeisureUKTalk)

Thank you Seargent. I did as you said but was referred to support again. It could be that i'm a relatively new customer?
      Thanks again. :)

I had contacted customer support to ask, but as there is the facility to click existing customer, and the fact that there is nothing online stating that it is for new customers only, then I will apply and see what happens (though interestingly enough, if you are logged in to the online account area and look to change your account options, then there is nothing mentioning the offer).

Forgot to ask - what did support say after you contacted them?

I haven't contacted them yet as the afternoon and evening calls go to India.

Correction - tried to order online (as an existing customer), got as far as the final screen and it stated that there was a problem and the sales team would be in contact.

Oh well, I await their call ... I have been with them for many years, rather than a new customer, so not sure why Margaret and I would get the problem screen when sergeant121 didn't?

I have no idea - all I know is that, this morning, my account shows 'LeisureUKTalk' and 'Active' - so my online request yesterday obviously worked.

In new home with no phone yet. Thinking about doing One Tel offer and 18666 together. Do I still need BT landline? Always had BT shared phones before. On my own now. Would Orchid box be necessary aswell? Any other suggestions v. m appreciated.

      Thanks
