No paypal fee

Not sure if this is the right place to put this
So here goes
Ive been helping my sister with her website in which is going ok. She used google check out and paypal.
The payments taken are around 90% paypal.
When Ive had my paypal account for ebay it always takes the payment as we know.
But on her account no paypal fee is taken. I did mention this to her she just srugged her shouldrs and said that she wasn't sure maybe you get a bill at the end of the month.
Know I'm concerned for her as I dont want her to get a big bill for months worth of paypal fees.
Is there a diffrence between paypal with your own website or is it just with paypal and ebay
Thanks

There is no difference at all.
If this is a new account then she may well be using a basic account and just hasn't had 2 people try and use a card yet, hence forcing the upgrade to a premier or business account. Alternatively people ar etrying to use a card, getting th e'unclaimed' message and giving up and buying elsewhere.
It is not possible to be using a premier or business account without incurring fees, maybe she just hasn't noticed she only gets the net amount.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. May be another explanation here. If the seller accepts payments from a paypal account holder with funds paypal takes a slice of payment from the sum paid but does not charge a fee on top. If you accept credit cards you will have to pay an extra fee for that unless you make it clear that the buyer must accept the credit card fee ( after all it is for their convenience and they can easily create their own paypal account and charge it up with funds). Sounds like she might be in the first category and if so nothing to worry about..0

No not quite. A basic account can only accept payments from a balance, and those payments are free. A basic account is allowed 2 card payments before it needs to be upgraded, at which point the selelr either accepts the payment (and therefore the upgrade) or the payment eventually gets returned to the buyer. Buyers are never charged a fee on payment, not sure quite where you get that from.
However a business should not be using a basic account, not only because unless they are a terrible business and don't make any sales they will be losing money by not accepting payments, but also because it is not designed for business use.
A premier or business account attracts a fee on every single payment taken regardless of how it is funded.
Lastly of course any seller that expected paypal fees to be paid by their buyers would soon stop selling, and how on earth do you enforce that? Buyers will be paying , seller will be getting fees so how will the seller then charge those fees back to the buyer?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Under the principle that you spend money to make money, any form of taking money for sales acquires its own costs. Even cash costs to accept, as you have to have good security measures in place to safeguard large amounts lying around in one place.
I've read in a number of places that credit card companies do not like merchants passing cc fees on to their customers. A lot of places still don't accept ccs for under a certain amount (but even that is getting rarer), but in reading other forums it seems to me that sellers are getting squeezed in the middle and have to work the cost of accepting Paypal, credit or debit cards into their cost-accounting.
About the only places I've seen still charge for the use of a CC for consumer purposes are ticket agencies and airlines, so your average internet shop, where people now largely pay electronically, is not going to thrive.
On a related note, perhaps Soo could answer this: how can I get a report of the fees I've paid to Paypal, preferably in a dump to Excel? Or do I have to do the sums or logging of each transaction manually?"Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Oh dearie me another little nugget! I have a premier paypal account. I will not usuallly accept credit card payments as I will not accept the charges as I am not a business seller but ebay forced me to upgrade from a basic account and I passed all of their checks. I dont sell frequently and for many months (like now) I dont sell at all. If anyone wants to pay with a credit card they still can but must pay for the privilege just as I have to with my travel agent. Many people have their own paypal account with funds in place and simply use that. So I dont pay any credit card fees at all and only see a % taken off my auction amounts by ebay / paypal.
And strictly for the record.. what has this got to do with .. "terrible business and don't make any sales they will be losing money by not accepting payments, but also because it is not designed for business use". ER what ??0 -
Sorry I don't understand this. How do you determine how someone is sourcing their PP payment? Do you send an additional invoice to buyers you think are using cards to fund it?tightwadman wrote: »Oh dearie me another little nugget! I have a premier paypal account. I actually think it is someone who likes the idea of being an ebay seller but actually isn't.
We've all mis interpreted rules, or had changes made by ebay that we haven't noticed, but to be so consistently wrong suggests they don't actually use ebay at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you have a premier PayPal account, you get charged a fee on whatever payment comes through. It is not more if someone is using a credit card...My Wins: £150 Next giftcard.
