Best ISA recommended

Hi,
Not logged in to these boards for a while, so hello again.
Has anyone had problems with the Kent Reliance ISA which is currently being recommended as the best one?
A few weeks ago I transferred all my money out of my Nationwide ISA into one of those with a cheque, and I STILL have not received any kind of welcome pack.
All I received was a letter acknowledging the transfer.
I rang a couple of weeks ago and told them this, and they said they are waiting for the cheque to clear. But I still have not received anything from them. This seems most iregular, as without any information how can I know how to do the most basic things, like pay in and withdraw money?
I just tried ringing them again today, but it's the old "all lines are busy" story.
Thanks
Dez

How odd that not a single person has answered.
Does that mean that no one else has had problems? Or could it mean *Shock Horror* that none of you are even bothering to take Martin's advice in certain areas, and that I am the only one who opened his recommended top payer??Portmanteau words are ludicrass.0 -
Have they confirmed the money has arrived?0

As is the norm, I am a bit confused here. When I last transferred an ISA, I went to the provider that I wanted to transfer to (in your case Kent) and got the paperwork off them. I completed the paperwork and gave it to the provider that I wanted to transfer from (Nationwide in your case) At no stage did I handle a cheque, I was under the impression that all the sordid matters took place between the two ISA providers. Have the rules changed ? If they haven't, you haven't closed your N.W. ISA have you and applied for a NEW one with Kent ?
Never mind the knighthood, just give me my money back.0 -
don't worry....although they don't answer your call, not write to you....but your money will be credited into account.
I transferred my ISA one month ago from M&S to Kent BS. Kent BS received my cheque and credited into my account. Although I called them, wrote to them twice....they never replied. After one month my cheuqe was clear, I received a letter from them and told me the transfer was completed.0 -
Yes, I received that letter too confirming that the money had arrived. But I did not receive any details about the acount or how it works. This is what I don't understand, as how am I supposed to deposit and withdraw money?
Incidently I didn't receive any e-mails from this site telling me my thread had been replied to, even though I set it up to do that. So thanks to those who have replied now, and sorry for the delay getting back.Portmanteau words are ludicrass.0 -
To pay money in in the past I have just sent a cheque payable to myself with a note with the a/c number on etc. I think there is information on the website. I'm used to internet accounts so found it a bit odd at first! After my last money along with their usual confirmation letter they sent a standard form for both paying money in and taking it out, but I'm sure you could just send letters still as its basically just a piece of paper to fill things in on.
The paying in slip has spaces for:
Name
please pay £ into my direct ISA
account no DIS
signature
date
cheque number
amount £
(not sure why you need to put the amount down twice!)
The withdrawl slip says withdrawls are payable via BACS/Cheque
Name
Direct ISA number DIS
BACS - Please transfer £ into my designated account as set out below
Name of Bank/building society
sort code
account number
account reference
Please send my cheque to <address>
amount £
made payable to
signature
date
daytime contact number
Hope this helps. I put new money into it when I opened it and didn't have any problems. I am probably going to be helping my DH transfer his nationwide ISA money into this Kent one soon so will see how that goes...:shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

I'm sorry to say that the OP looks to have closed his Nationwide ISA if he got a cheque for the proceeds . There should be no cheques involved in a transfer - unless Vande was transferring an old ISA and additionally opening a 2006/7 KRBS ISA at the same time.)
To coin a phrase "KRBS are experiencing unprecedented levels of business at the moment." I wonder why .
IIRC old providers have 30 days, from receipt of the transfer form, to complete the transfer (assuming no notice periods are involved).0 -
Hi RI, I don't suppose you happen to know how it works when a notice period is involved? I want to transfer money from the 90day notice nationwide members ISA to KRBS. Do I tell Nationwide before I ask KRBS to make the transfer or do I tell KRBS that they will have to give Nationwide 60 days notice?:shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

I don't know, but my instinct would be to let KRBS know that that's what you want, but send a copy of your KRBS letter to Nationwide to cover all bases.
Otherwise, should wires get crossed, Nationwide may use a direct letter to them to disrupt the transfer process e.g. if there is a problem with dates etc.0
