Nationwide - Use of ATM's in US and Canada

Off to US later this month and planning on using my Nationwide VISA debit card. Can I just ask if anyone knows of certain banks/ATMs that prevent the withdrawal of cash?
The only reason I ask is that I had problems last year in Canada where the only bank I managed to use my card was Scotiabank. I seem to remember when on the phone to Nationwide at the time that it was some sort of problem with UK chip and pin cards not being recognised by Canadian ATM's. Anyone else had this problem?

There have been previous posts on here about people having problems with a Nationwide debit card in ATM's in Canada. However I haven't seen any similar problems for the US.0
