Advice on Tuition for College

Hi

If I've posted this in the wrong section I apologise, but I'd like some advise please

I've been signed on for the past 8 months and have finally gotten a job.

During when I was on Benefit I decided to apply for a Postgraduate course at a nearby University. I have always felt the next logical step was to obtain my MA. Having signed up for the course, and been accepted, I found their was virtually no funding options open to me that were not self funding.

I am currently looking into the option of a Loan but do not feel this will be granted as I have been unemployed for 8 months and have little history of living in the UK. Being originally from the EU I have not been resident in the UK for three years yet and so therefore do not have the right to apply for a PCDL

I do want to do the course, and my new job is well paid, and the hours are flexible as such that I could easily pay the cost of the course from this job. However, since I have to work a back month, and the job itself hasn't given me a start date - CRB pending - then I won't have the money available when needed at registration.

The way I see it, is that I have a few options

1. Apply for an overdraft, use this money to pay for registration, and then pay off the overdraft straight away with money from my new employment
2. Throw myself on the mercy of the University and ask if I work something out with them - perhaps giving them the required fees a little later in the year then expected.
3. I could defer the course, but I may not have the opportunity to work alongside the course like this in such a lucrative job, and based on my partners current situation I could find myself being moved from the area before I get a chance to restart my deferral
4. Write a cheque I know is going to bounce, collect my material and begin the course, and then use option 2 when the University comes looking for me and the paperwork has already been submitted and I have begun my studies

Does anyone know, can a University throw you out of a course for failing to pay a tuition fee if you are prepared to make alternative arrangements and a full payment to them over a suitable period before graduation?

I'd like to go and speak to them on Monday for their advice and I am wondering what I can say?

Any advice people could give me would be appreciative.

Yes, a uni can terminate your studies if you are unable to pay. There is an expectation with postgrad studies that your finances are sorted prior to the course starting, and therefore there is little leeway if you are unable to pay on the required dates.
