I have posted about one.tel before, after looking at the price checker for calls I must issue a warning, i noticed it was 3p a minute to call usa with them, I usually use 1899 but I thought i'll just use my regular account (no difference) I made 2 calls one 24 minutes, the charge £2.28 and another for one hour 12 mins the charges £6.48. As far as I am aware you have to sign up for them with international calls which I did on my account months ago and then got my fone bill and they had discontinued my free evening and weekend calls, so I got a massive bill for that, the reason they said they cancelled that was because i had signed up for international calls.... HELLO, can't I have both, so it looks like when I complained they put me back on free evening and weekend and cancelled my international ones, and you know what I really cant be bothered to call them because I will be speaking to someone who does not understand what i am talking about like last time which is what I am sure happens with a lot of people.

I'd move to TALKTalk if I were you. Their Talk1+ package would probably suit you. Here's a link:

Doesn't really surprise me about one-tel - but I don't see how talk-talk is any better, when 18866, 1899 and telediscount knock spots off both of them.0

Actually, it is better because with Talk Talk you don't pay a monthly premium for international call access. The original poster was unhappy about the extra charge incurred due to the addition of international calling facility and the cessation/suspension of the original plan which allowed free evening/weekend calls to UK numbers.
The poster also realises that 18866/1899 are cheaper for international access, but thought that they were on a tariff with Onetel which would have been charged at roughly the same. No doubt the poster also realises that 18866 is preferable for UK calls too, but only in the daytime, due to the fact that Onetel/TalkTalk are offering free UK calls during the evening/weekend period.0 -
Onetel customer service is dreadful but if you keep on and on and on at them, then my experience is you eventually get there. I found that emailing them was more effective than telephoning. Their call centre staff seem badly trained and lacking the authority to put things right when there has been a mistake.Reed0

You lot sure know how to cheer a person up don'tcha?! I've just signed up with One Tel on the strength of Martin's post (and 18866 on the advice of edinburghlass).
It was a toss up between Talk Talk and One Tel but as I only know 1 person on Talk Talk, I figured I might be better with the £20 credit from One Tel.
Hope I haven't made the wrong decision.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I think ultimately Onetel will prove a good choice. Just don't make any calls the first day you are connected to Onetel. On the first day the tariffs charged are completely random and may bear no relation to the service you have signed up for. The correct tariffs are established at midnight so you should be okay thereafter. The same thing happens if you change your service plan. On the first day of the new plan you are charged arbitrarily; then at midnight the correct tariffs are put in place.Reed0

I tried to register with them today via Linemypocket - unfortunately it said I might have previously been registered with them & to contact them. They were able to register me over the phone - which I declined, as I wanted to get my £12 cashback. In other words, if we were just with BT and 18866 (and were using 18866 for all UK 01/02 calls at all times), it would have cost us less than £1 extra over the month.
I'm seriously wondering whether it's worth the bother of trying to get free evening and weekend calls.30 years, 217 days!0
