I have been using 1899 for six months and have had a problem for the first time I phoned Canada and was charged 1 Pence per min although the website states that calls to Canada are free. I have tried contacing them but are unable to get a response. As anyone else had the same problem?

On 26/1/05, call1899.co.uk introuduced their '3p connection and 0p per minute' rates for calls to Canada, USA and Germany FROM BT LANDLINES.
Their rates from cable landlines are 3p connection and 1p per minute to those three countries.
Do you have a BT landline?30 years, 217 days!0 -
Thanks for the info, no I have a telewest connection0

I have just received my first bill for 1899 which I have been using for calls to mobiles.
They are charging me 3p connection and 1p per minute.
I do have a BT line but also direct my calls through HomeCall which I thought meant I would still benefit. Or am I lol.
As I write this I am thinking 1p per min is good or mobiles0 -
have been on 1899 for about 2 weeks, only used the mobile once thru 1899. Its a bit clatty dont you think? I have a vodaphone pay as you go. I put in the prefix, waited for the prompt too put the rest of the number thru. & got thru. Am I missing something here, cos during mid call how do i use my address book to acces a number. Be interested to find out, all you mobile mainiacs. Am only an occaisional user so, I dont know all the short cuts. Oh & for about 2.5 mins calling a local landline they charged me about 20P. Any ideas anyone0

1st is save numbers with a pause character in between 1899's access number and the required number.
But the 2nd is the method you describe - credit Steve_xx who described it to me and someone else the other day
Save the access number with a + on the end. When it answers you can either enter a number or press Search to open the phonebook; select an entry via letter or arrow keys, press Enter or OK. Then, depending on phone type press Send or OK or on mine DTMF (which stands for the dial tones). You'll hear it dialling ...0 -

..............not forgetting that you must NOT press the green 'go' button more than once during the whole sequence. If you do you will put one call on 'hold' and then make a second call on your phones second line.0
