Credit Fraud

A relative was recently cold called and asked lots of insurance, pension etc questions she also gave them her date of birth. Is there anyone we can notify to pre-empt credit fraud being commited against her? Is there anyone we can notify so if any credit is taken out in my relatives name that it is stopped immediatly?

Regards

Carly

I really dont think there is much to worry about.
Most peoples personal information ie date of birth can be easily obtained.

As long as she did not give them any bank details.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Agree with mckneff that its probably not much they can do with this info (although she might want to be wary of people using the info to write to her for money for bogus debts - if she is the sort of person who might fall for such a trick).

If you were still worried though you could look at CIFAS registration for her, which would stop any new credit agreements in her name.

  • Thanks, she wont be doing it again!

Here's the most efficent way to protect yourself (click here).from ID Theft.

The system is cheaper (enrol free) and more effective that CIFAS Protective Registration.

    Judge for yourself.
