PPI Help

Can someone please help with the best way forward?

My Dad died two years ago, he looked after all the financial things for him and Mum.

They had a mortgage, loans and CC's etc. Mum is unsure of what agreements had PPI. What would be the best way of finding? Just write letters to the companies involved and ask?

Also, what constitutes mis-sold PPI?

When Dad died a lot of the debts were paid off, because of insurances he had, I take it, that that would have fulfilled the PPI obligation and Mum would not be entitled to claim against these policies?

My Mum is retired through ill health, so just trying to get her some money to help her out.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there and welcome, i would think if ppi was attached and it covered death and repaid the loans then it could be said they were fit for purpose. However, having said that some on here have claimed for redundancy etc and have still won a mis sell so it may be worth giving it a go.

if you have reasons for mis sell, give it a go, you have lost nothing by doing so.If you need any help give us a shout.
By the way, dont use a claims company, you can do it with our help for the price of a few stamps.

Thanks for the info. A year before my Dad died, he was made redundant, I think he had problems claiming then, although like I said in my earlier post, all companies paid out on death.

I had never really thought about it before, but was in town with my Mum and one of those companies tried to stop my Mum to ask her about this. Luckily I was with Mum, as she is the gullible type, who would have fallen for their patter.

Told the guy, why would I pay him, when I could do it myself for free. He got a bit arsey. :rotfl:

    Hi and welcome

And well done you for going this direction and not allowing these claims companies to take them on:T.

Sorry about your dad, I can understand how difficult this must have been for you and your mum and family, my dad passed away 3 weeks ago tomorrow at the age of 69, however he was suffering a long time before and at peace now.;)

In regards of the reclaiming, complete the questionnaires for how many you have to reclaim, and send to who was the ones who set up the policies from the start, so if a broker was used you pursue them.

These questionnaires were replaced, there used to be reclaiming template letters for the first stage, but the financial ombudsman service (FOS) recently issued the FOS questionnaires to use instead, remember to save a copy as well.........they then have 8 weeks in full to respond.
I personally suggest to get proof of posting at your post office as well.

The fOS questionnaire you will find on the link below, further down the page as stage one.

Keep at them and please keep us posted, good luck.;)
