Hi All,
I have a pretty good credit score, I have never missed a payment but I can not get a new 0% CC, I tried in Jan and got turned down, then tried again last week (waiting for 6 months) and got turned down again. I was told Halifax would except me..........
Im desperate as my cards (3 of them) are all in the interest periods, one is okay as its life of balance but the others are both 14.9%.
Can't believ I have been in debt now for about 10 years.............. thought I had had my light bulb moment but think I have just had it again.....
Dont know what to do now? Think I should call my exisiting cards and see if they would lower the interest rates?????

It certainly can't hurt to ask them, assuming you have kept up your repayments etc. Though 14.9% is quite a good standard percent.
And presumably you know if any try to increase the rates at any point that you opt out?
Could you ask the life of balance card if the would increase your limit? if they still have the same BT offer you could then move some more debt across to that card? They might be more willing to up your limit than a new lender would be to give you a new card.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Tasha debt,
As Tixy has said, you could contact the credit card companies and ask them to reduce your amounts, but 14.9% is good for a credit card. Do you have any dormant/unused cards or credit thay may be affecting your score and have you checked your credit files to ensure all the information is accurate? If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Thanks, think I will call Natwest tomorrow and see if they will extend my limit and then I can transfer the other card to it on a life of balance rate.......
Wish me luck.
Think I also need to get back into the ebaying quick as possible.

None of my CC will lower the APR's, the card that is life of balance has £700 credit but when I spoek to them about balance transfering to the card they said it would be at 15.9% apr and that my 7.9 was just a promotional offer......
Running out of ideas now, nearly £9K on CC no chance of a 0% card!!!!!!!!

This is the trouble with 0% offers. They're never guaranteed to continue and it's not really facing up to the debt issue, just making it cheaper in the short term which is why you should always get them paid off before the 0% runs out.
I think it would be wise for you to seek debt advice fro one of the debt charities if you are about to start struggling with repayments. Don't wait until you've started missing payments.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
