Changing the stationary abit from the wedding invitations

My nan bless has asked if she can make our wedding invitations for us :) :T she has got into card making etc & she makes some lovely cards. It also saves us some money as well

She did something that she thought we would like knowing our colour scheme is black & white & sent me this up (the @ needs to be changed to a &) it was a mistake :p

I like them but knowing what else can be done & other things i also like but my nan would struggle to do. I was thinking something along the lines of this

She also sent me up a sample for the placecards. Obviously the wedding invitation would say the name

but i was thinking of maybe buying some like this

The wedding invitations aren't going to be around & will have been sent out about 5 months before so are people really going to rember that it doesn't exactley co-ordiante?

I have also just realised that we will need table numbers done as i dont think we are having a theme for the tables so would need something again like this - or get my nan to make them up in the same style she has done everything else

Or do you think i should just leave it & what my nan has done (bless her) looks ok? We would be saving quite abit of money as well letting her do it??

    I actually prefer your Nan's.

People won't remember if the invites co-ordinate or not, think of where else you could spend the money.

  • You prefer my nans place cards?? I do like them just was thinking something abit different.

I am going to have to get her to do the table numbers or the table names as well then, so it does all co-ordinate with the place name cards she does

I like both your Nans invites and placecards :)

    I'd go with your Nan's :)

Just think, in time to come, you can look back on pics of them and the actual invites/placecards (if you keep a few back) and remember your Nan made them for you with love.

There is a cake I really really wanted, but my friend and her friend offered to make ours ~ it isn't costing us a penny and we would rather the cake be made with love, than spend out on something because it looked amazing.

    Does that make sense?

Of course I'm not knocking anyone who is having a gorgeous cake and beautiful invitations, I just think when you haven't got money to throw about, someone close to you offering to spend time making something for your wedding is so thoughtful and lovely of them .

P.S. Your Nan is very talented ~ I would be happy to give those out to my guests! x

If my DGD let me make her wedding invites, I'd be pleased as punch...

.... but if she started telling me how to do them I'd be stressed to pieces.

Don't under-estimate how important this is for your Nan. If is was me, I'd give her free rein and I'd be thrilled with whatever she comes up with. How many brides can say their Nan made their wedding invites?

You are obviously one much loved girl :j

i do love the one your nan has made, and if you asked her to make the ribbon the same as the other one then there would be no contest in my mind as to which was better - i do think that ribbon is extremely difficult to get right if you're cutting it, so hiding the back on the inside of the card is a better idea. but then what she has already made you is gorgeous as it is.
