in Cutting tax
Hi, I was hoping someone might be able to help.
At the moment I am working 2 jobs, my 9-5 is like anyone elses and I now have a small business on the side which is registered and fully legit.
I have been collecting all invoices and expenses but was hoping that someone might know if there is anything electronic I could use to keep track of everything so at the end of the tax year I can either import the information into the relevent forums for tax or use it as easy reference.
Regards
Ben

There's only one piece of software that does the business book-keeping, business and personal tax all in one, that I know of. It's
www.freeagentcentral.com
You can put in your personal tax side of things, i.e. employment and interest, dividends, etc., (or estimates until you get the year end docs) and then as you enter your business invoices and expenses throughout the year, it gives a running total of forthcoming tax liabilities.
If your affairs are simple, there would probably be no need for an accountant as it works out complicated things like depreciation and capital allowances for you and tells you where to put the figures on your tax return, so the price is cheaper than an accountant would charge, but if you do want/need an accountant, there are lots of accountants on the freeagent website many of whom offer heavily discounted free agent software if you go through them and are used to working with it so can give you better advice/support.0 -
What does it cost to use?
Are there any "wrinkles" to the charging structure?0 -
hi try contraccounts.com, its good value for money (£50 a year) which is possibly the cheapest software, easy to use, has all the e-invoicing benefits, bookkeeping (attach receipts etc), accounting and has all other kinds of features. Everything is unlimited unlike other systems, and provides an archive for reference of previous tax years, its a really good piece of kit, as I work off ebay I also can integrate this site for automated bookkeeping.
I think theres a 30 day free trial, hope this helps0 -
We're a limited company and have been using Freeagent for the last 2 years. It really is a fantastic solution to small business accounts for soletraders and limited companies. Today we filed our VAT return in 5 minutes, by uploading our bank statements we can track monthly profit and loss to ensure we're getting the most out of the business. Freeagent also calculates our corporation tax and self assessment tax return.
The support is fantastic and they are constantly developing the application making improvements from user feedback.
Freeagent also offer a great referral system, if you sign up using the referral code below you get a 10% discount for life!

We used Sage Instant for years, and spent hours upon hours on invoicing and reconciling bank accounts etc and STILL had to pay someone to work out our tax for us. Been using Freeagent for about a year now and can honestly say it's saved me time, stress and gray hairs!
I don't work full time for the business either and the thing I love about Freeagent the most is I can set up invoices to go out via email automatically AND set up emails reminding people to pay even when I'm not there.
This must be the best value accountancy software available in the UK (sorry Sage).
As with the guys above, you can make it aven better value by getting 10% of your monthly subscription if you use this referral code:396w913i and I get 10% off my subscription too!
Happy book-keeping and give me a shout if any questions.0
