Best credit card from an airline?

I have been mulling over the possibility of a BA or BMI AMEX - basically I would like a card that gives me some fairly decent airmiles with, ideally, no annual fee. This would be my first credit card, so my general knowledge of them is quite sparse.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. :)

    Take a look at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club-486/

The joy of the BMI scheme is:

    1) easier to accumulate/spend miles on other Star Alliance partners (OneWorld/BA tends to be more restrictive).
    2) miles don't expire, provided there is some activity (which could be make a small purchase via their website)
    3) The cash+miles reward system.

    (3) is particularly good - it can be quite a cost effective deal if you fancy, for example, a business class return to the far east. Less cost effective for shorter haul economy.

Works best if you do some Star Alliance flying anyway.

Don't know much about the BA scheme, but on the website above there is a forum for that too.

If this is your first credit card and you have limited credit history from other products I'd concentrate on getting a card to build your credit history, as you're possibly less likely to be accepted for any of the popular reward cards,

Good point, had overlooked that part of the OP.
