credit card and debit cards?

i was wanting to know if u pay by debit card do u have the same rights as a credit card? i ask this as i booked a holiday with the collapsed goldtrail comapny. i know abta/atol will reimburse me eventually but i was wanting to know would it be quicker to reclaim through my bank as i paid by debit card?? many thanks in advance

Sorry to hear about your holiday.
If it's a Visa debit card with the Visa logo you should be able to do a chargeback I think.
I don't think Maestro offers the same protection.
However I don't know how long it takes for claims to be paid out.
Have a look at this site and contact your bank for advice.

Here is some MSE info on the visa chargeback scheme, which you could use if you paid by a visa debit card.
It does suggest it is a last resort option.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
