Holiday Payment

in Credit cards
I am due to pay a cruise holiday payment of £2000 and cannot make up my mind if I should pay by Credit or Debit Card.
I have to pay my Travel agent this week which is 10 weeks before departure although the TA does pay the Cruise Company until 6 weeks prior to departure, I am concerned where I stand if the TA goes broke during the 4 week period prior to them paying the cruise company. Once this period is over and they have paid the Cruise Company I would be OK. While this is a small risk it did happen to a major internet cruise TA last year at this time of year.
I realise that there is more protection using the Credit Card but there is a 2.5% charge (£50) for using a Credit Card and nil for a Debit Card.
I paid my deposit by Credit Card so does that offer me protection under Section 75 if I pay the remainder by Debit Card.

I think it does if the deposit was over £100 - but someone will be along to correct me if this is wrong.0

2.5% is a small price to pay for peace of mind, think of it as insuranceGRADUATED FIRST CLASS WITH HONORS FROM THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS RECOMENDED READ IF BY RUDYARD KIPLING0

You do not have to pay all of it on a credit card to be protected but as long as you spend at least £100 on the credit card then you can pay the rest by debit card if you wish. I would strongly advise that you pay some of it on a credit card and take a very good travel insurance.0

If you paid the deposit by credit card that covers you for the whole holiday under section 75. Pay the rest by debit card.0

It's only the purchase price of the item that needs to be at least £100 (and not more than £30,000).0 -
