Credit card limits

Having followed Martin's advice re travel money, i applied for a Santander Zero credit card which I find very useful when abroad. However, my credit limit is just £500 which is insufficient as I spend several weeks away. I have asked for an increase and been refused. As I have no debts and pay off the card immediately by direct debit, I am flummoxed. My husband in the same financial position has a limit of £3000. Anyone else have this experience?

Your two credit files can't be exactly the same surely? Age, Salary, Credit Commitments etc. There only needs to be a slight difference.

Can't you use your husbands when your away. My wife happily uses mine:D He can add your name too!

Even if you are in the same financial situation, your credit past surely cannot be the same.

Credit card companies don't judge you only on your current income, but also on past history with other credit facilities (which is one of the main decision makers), your stability in a way of address, same job etc...
