Credit Issues

in Credit cards
Hey,
New to the board here. Thought someone could shed some light on my problem.
I've recently moved to my new flat with my girlfriend. We've been here around 4 months. About a month ago I tried to take out a finance scheme that offered 0% finance from a music shop, but I was declined. The guy I was talking to suggested I should get on the election roll and that would probably solve my problem. So I got in touch with my local council and I applied to get on the election roll. I recieved a letter the other day confirming that I'm now on it.
I now thought I'd be able to do the 0% finance scheme from the music shop but went there the other day and was declined again. I was then told I should probably get a credit report. So I signed up to Equifax and got my credit report and looked it over. Everything seemed correct other than they haven't recognised that I'm on the election roll in my new area.
How do I correct this? It seems to be the reason why I'm getting rejected. I tried to get a Tesco credit card last night and I was rejected for that too. So something is up.
Any help would be excellent.
Thanks

The electoral roll can take some time to be updated and filter through to your credit report. Don't think there is much you can do about it except keep an eye on your report.0

How long ago did you get onto the electoral roll?
It could take months (or even an annual update) for this information to arrive.
There is no point applying and getting further searches whilst it's not recorded.
So STOP applying whilst your electoral role is not on your credit report.
It's pointless and only dmaging our rating.
Can you ask your council when they update the credit reference agencies?0 -
The electroral roll can be one reason - you just have to wait.
Another reason might be the recent move - it was only 3 months when you applied for the first credit. Banks are looking for stability. Obviously everyone moves here and there, but the banks are just being carefull and usually don't recommend applying soon after big changes. Now you applied the second time - in short space of time. Appart from not being on electroral roll and having moved recently you are now looking desperate as well.
You have to sit it out for couple more months. Whatever you do don't apply for anything in near future!! You are making matters worse.0 -

I've only been on it since the 1st July, so not long at all.
It's not real time they do it in batches.
Some monthly, some less frequently.
You could check with your council but there are other issues now - like your house move and now several searches.
Could you consider saving up for what you want??
or earning some extra income with extra work?0
