I have just bought this one from my local Poundstretcher for £11.99 they do it in Blue/Black and Red , It isn't lined, otherwise it's ok for carry on baggage. It weighs 2kg

    Your welcome :-)
    Yes.

    It's 55cm X 37cm X 22cm.
If you look at their website you will see the other sizes, the do a smaller one 45cmX32cmX18cm for £8.99

    No good then, Ryanair max dimensions are;

    55cm x 40cm x 20cm.

I got those measurements off the web site, the actual size is not on the case in the store.

Just checked it and it is actually 19cm unless you expand it.

We took a tape measure with us when we bought it just to be sure it complied, maybe they vary so I would advise anyone thinking of buying one to do the same.

Bought this a few weeks ago - been mentioned a few times on here - took the handle off to make sure it was within size easy job.

It passed the cardboard cut out box they put over it no probs.

I had 4 flights with Ryanair last month. My bag size was a bit over the limit, a few cm only, but had no problems with it. I've been asked to put in the cage only once (Edinburgh), nobody cared about my bag in Norway, Denmark or Poland. If you can fit it in the cage then it is fine, nobody is going to measure your bag, they won't have time for that. And although my bag is over the limit it still fits in the cage if you push it a wee bit. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.
I thought I wouldn't risk and took a small backpack with me that I put inside the bag I was carrying on-board, just in case they say that my bag is too big and I have to get rid of it with with the stuff in it... Not had a problem...

Because you have got away with it at a few airports, doesn't mean everyone will.

Some Ryanair cages now have a box fitted inside them, why risk getting charged an excessive amount by Ryanair when keeping within their designated sizes isn't too difficult.

Is it normal procedure for them to put a box inside the cage ?

I went to LBA airport last week to try a case I already had in the cage, (which didn't have a box inside) and it was fine for width and depth, the height of 55cm just reached the top of the front bar, if they are going to put a box inside the cage, it might not fit as good, now I am worried :-(
If I include the wheels it would be 56.5 cm.

Nowhere on the web site can I find anything that says the 55cm excludes the wheels, this is just something I have read in the forums.

The other case I bought from Poundstretcher is virtually the same measurements as the one I tried in the cage, so I assumed it would be ok.
