Credit Card PPI

Hey folks,
I hope one of you will be able to help me out. I apologise in advance fornthe slightly morbid nature of this enquiry, I don't particularly want to find this out but have made a promise to.
The Story
My Dad has a Credit Card with one of the major High Street banks. He has PPI cover on this account - which he was mis sold and I may help him claim back.
The Credit Card balance was recently transferred to another major high street bank whom were offering 0% for balance transfers - there is no PPI on this account.
5 weeks ago, we received the devastating news that my Dad is terminally ill.
The question is hopefully a pretty simple one - does anyone know what cover will be provided by the PPI? I have asked him to get a copy of the policy but this is yet to arrive. Do these policies do any of the following:-
1. Cover for a portion of his monthly payment
2. Cover his balance at time of diagnosis
3. Cover his credit limit etc etc
If he is covered to his credit limit then I'm thinking that he may as well max his balance out and pay his other credit card off - I suspect there will be a clause preventing this though, which is a shame because I imagine my Dad would take a bit of joy out of making one of his last actions taking some money off a bank with a policy that he never wanted!!
I beleive that at the time of his diagnosis he had already transferred his balance to the new provider so therefore I'm not sure he can claim much (or anything) from this policy - in which case I will probably persue a mis sell case with the provider but I wanted to find out the situation for him before I do this.
Again, apologies for the morbid nature of this enquiry - a promise is a promise so I have to find out the rules on this one.
Thanks folks
John
