ICICI - Me or them

Anyone that uses ICICI will know that you have to have a linked account set up to transfer money in and out. Anyway, on the transfer money page I have an incorrect account number showing. I didn't notice until I started to investigate why the £20k I sent never reached my linked acount. I have called them about this only to be told I will have to wait 2 days for a response.
I am keen to find out if this mistake was mine or theirs. I think it was theirs as I am sure they set it up based on the cheque you have to send to them. But I stand corrected.
Can anyone who has opened an account recently enlighten me. Also, has anyone else ever experienced anything like this and is it a problem getting the money back?
Thanks

not directly in response to your query but this company has more problems than i can think off... according to this site....it looks to me like they have messed up in inputting your details..0

How did you get the money into the the account in the first place? If the direct debit was set up to your linked account correctly, then that would suggest someone has made a mistake at their end.0

It doesn't answer your account number query, but was this the first transfer in?
If so...
1. It'll take around 8-10 days to register, and
2. Why didn't you just send £1 to 'test the conduit' first?
I must say though, you do seem pretty calm. I'd be more than a little worried about 'losing' £20K. :eek:0 -

The information you give is a bit skimpy (ie. You don't say how long you have waited for your £20k and neither do you say whether it is your linked current account number which has a wrong number or whether it is the HiSAVE account number which is wrong.
Also, I hope you're not confusing your HiSAVE 'Customer Access Number' with your HiSAVE 'Account Number'. They are not the same.
The first cheque into lots of newly opened Internet accounts might take about 8-10 days to clear too.0 -
It was a transfer out not in. I may seem calm but I can trust you I am not. It should bounce back though shouldn't it?0

It's the linked current account with the wrong number. I sent it a week ago but having looked closer at the account number on the "transfer money" page I can see that 2 digits are wrong. This was my first transfer out.0 -
So, it was your linked external account number that was wrong on the ICICI transfer page?
Does it also show a sort code? If so, and if this is correct, you could prompt your own bank that there may be a deposit soon into the account number listed on the ICICI site. Hopefully, no such account number will exist and this will mean the issue will be investigated by your bank as well as ICICI.0 -
I had a similar problem with them, i kept getting the 'incorrect number' message. It turns out that the link to the ICICI page i had took me to icici.com instead of icici.co.uk. Double check you are on the .co.uk page.0

That's what I thought. I am going to chase ICICI tomorrow and try again with A & L (linked account).0
