i shouldn't have got a parking notice..surely?

I've never trusted the parking system but was at the risk of being late for my first day at work and parked in an area that said:

P Doctor permit holders only
D26
Mon -Fri 8:30-10pm
Sat 8:30-6:30pm

I parked there on a Sunday!!
It was next to a doctor's bay but my bay certainly did not say 'doctor'.

Qs for anyone that may be able to help:
Does this seem right?
Is there any number I can call to check on the rules for specific streets?
Is there any site where you can check a street online and see if it's ok to park there?
Definitely don't trust those signs now!
Many thanks!!

Have you got any photos of exactly where you parked, and the signs around that area?

In my opinion you would of been fine parking in that Doctors bay, on Sunday, as the sign shows the operational hours.

But you mentioned that you parked next to a doctors bay? There must of been another sign covering this, or not? What is the exact wording on the ticket? Is it council based or private based road/parking space?

On the parking notice, there will be an appeals number? They will try and tell you that you were wrong though, without even investigating it. The photos will help greatly if you can get them.

If its a private car park then just ignore it. If the ticket says council then photo/scan/copy the pcn, remove personal details and host on tinypic. copy the url and paste it into a post and remove the http:// bit. both sides and use camera on macro/closeup mode.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

Oh no i didn't actually park in the doctors bay I just presumed that doctors bays were meant for doctors and that sign covered the areas outside the doc's bay -drat, i knew it was dodgy. Yes itsays council and it was on the road.

You are saying 'drat!' far too soon. Think about appealing first. Personally I would appeal any and every parking ticket I get in future from a Council as I have seen the success rate of appeals when people know what to look for.

There's every chance you can successfully appeal the PCN on a technicality like unenforceable bay/signage, or flawed wording on the PCN. If so then we can tell you if we see the PCN front and back (and pics of the bay lines & signs, ideally), and/or if you start a new thread about it with your pics on here:

Pepipoo.com know their PCNs and can get the vast majority of people off paying.

    :T
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
