here is the letter I sent :

    1st August 2006
Data Protection Act 1998 Subject Access Request

    Dear Sir/Madam

    Virgin Credit Card :

To begin with, Please can you ensure that my address details are updated to that of the top of this letter.

Please supply me with a complete list of charges relating to my banking history with your organisation in relation to the above account and any separate accounts that are linked. Alternatively, a complete set of statements for the period of 6 years previous to the date of this letter will be acceptable.

Additionally, where there has been any event in my account history over this period which has required manual intervention by any member of your staff, or any other person, I require disclosure of any indication or notes which have either caused or resulted in that manual intervention, or other evidence of that manual intervention in relation to my banking business with you.

If you are unable to supply this data because there has been no such manual intervention, then please be so kind as to confirm this in your response.

In current law there is 40 days in which to comply. Furthermore, if I discover that you have levied disproportionate penalties against me, then I shall be reclaiming them, and also reclaiming any reasonable costs incurred throughout my claim.

If there is specific information which you require in order to satisfy yourself as to my identity, please let me know by return. However, please note that the above address is the one which you normally use to communicate my private business to me and which you have hitherto found to be acceptable.

    Yours faithfully,

    It worked for me !!

    I am sooo tempted!

But as BR is looming, its not worth it.

Or is it?? Perhaps by getting all charges refunded it may reduce the balances!!!

Same here Charlotte... I am still trying, as the OR will take it as a positive step you have taken to reduce the balances.

takes a month or so, so ive given up now as our BR is less than 6 weeks away.

    Right. Bull and Horns.

I haven't put in a date yet for BR. (I know..... I am still putting this off!)

Will be writing to everyone tonight and see what the responses are and see how much our balances can go down by!

Need advice though - should I write directly to the banks or to the DCA's that have taken over the debts??? I don't think any have been sold on yet, just DCAs appointed, so I've answered my own question - haven't I!!!!???

    And second question someone.

Can I do this for store cards as well as my credit cards and banks??

(And I have realised that I have a habit of taking your threads off subject!)
  • I think you can do it for store cards, as they are generally run by the banks .. I think.

    Go girl !!

    Mike,
I take it's that's the first letter you sent to request the statements.
What letter did you send when you received the statements and worked out what was owed, also did you claim every penny of the charges and the interest charged on them?

    cheers
