Credit cards reporting to credit reports

Am I right in thinking that you would have to spend something each month on a credit card in order to get the green 0 on your credit report? If that's the case, what would you get if you didn't spend anything that month and had a zero balance?

It's been a while since I had one and I can't remember whether I spent something every month or not.

Equifax it's a "Z" as in "Zzzzzz", Experian it's a "U" as in "Unclassified" or "D" as in "Dormant" (Not default, that's "8").

These statuses have a null effect, i.e. they neither add to or subtract from your credit score ;)
