Cheeky question re Debenhams vouchers

I have a debenhams storecard and they have sent discount vouchers to use between today and Friday. The biggest voucher is £60 off £300. I want a bin which in there is £109 less 20%- a stupid price that I won't pay. Has anyone tried buying £300 worth of stuff say the bin I want and 2 dresses that I won't want, so it comes to over £300. Then take the dresses back so it effectively means I get my bin for £109 less 20% less £60 making it a much better price.
Will this work????

Hi,
I had to return am item I had bought for hubby, in a big transaction using one of these vouchers and they took the voucher amount off the refund. She said as the total was reduced I hadn't spent the required amount to use the voucher.
It may depend on the sales assistant I guess.0 -
Thanks Ruth I thought that might happen. Worth a try- I thought I was being a savvy saver!0
