A big thank you to everyone who advised a while ago about whether Step D should contribute towards househols as she was working.
She paid her first rent cheque over the weekend (I'll be running down to the bank with it at lunchtime)
I feel happy that she is contributing and she didn't seem to mind paying. She still wants to move into a flat but I think it's made her realise that she has to have the money and budget.
I'm so pleased and thanks for you lot for advising me not to feel guilty about her contributing.

Better not do!
I know I'm alright though, as she was paid Friday! So I've cleaned it out of her bank account ASAP.0 -
Get her to pay cash, then you know you have it. Or a DD set up on her pay day.

Ahhh, no I trust her that it won't bounce and I'm happy with a cheque.
I don't really *need* it though it will be handy for the increased electric and she does use a lot of washing powder (but not as much as she thinks she does since I started watering it down!)
I just felt that it would be good for her to work on a budget and realise that if you want to live independently you need to budget for it.
I was worried that she wanted to get a flat and hadn't really thought it through, so I mentioned that she could contribute to our household. Initally she was a little resistant but to be fair she has cut down on going out and buying junk and got the money together to pay me this month.
I'm really proud of her.0 -
