Flights to Italy?

We have rented a villa about 50 miles outside Rome, and 6 of us are going. Just looking for flights now, but can't find a direct flight except for EasyJet, and dont really wanna go by them as they dont get into Rome util evening on the day of our first hire.
Cheapest Ive found at the moment is for £137 travelling from Birmingham on 23/9 returning 30/9, which is a 1 stop flight via Swiss Air.
Has anyone had any experience with Swiss Air recently, especially as one of the party is a little on the large side, and just about fit into the seats on Ryan Air to Dublin last year. Are their plane seats roomy?
The planes used are:
Birmingham to Geneva - Avro RJ
Geneva to Rome - Airbus A321

Easyjet have a morning flight to Rome out of the East Mids airport on the 23rd."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0

prefer a Birmingham departure as we can get lifts to and from there (live close), but if East Mids it adds quite a bit in car parking for 2 cars0

Parking at East Mids for 2 cars would be £84 with Airparks (prebook) , less than £15 per head.0

We have just used Jet2.com from Manchester to Amsterdam and was impressed with this company. Both in and out flights landed within 10 minutes of scheduled time.
Looking at their website they do flights to Rome (and Milan which we hope to go for next year).0 -
You mention that your accommodation is about 50 miles outside Rome - where abouts?
Just a thought as to which of the 2 Rome airports - Fiumicino or Ciampino - would be the most convenient to fly to.
Don't know if the drivers in the party have driven in Italy before - but it can be 'interesting'. Not necessarily scary, but if you flew into the most convenient airport they may appreciate a chance to acclimatise to Roman driving in a gentle way with the easiest possible journey.0
