Tips on Cyprus or Travelling at the moment in general?

Does anyone have any hints/tips on travelling to Cyprus (paphos) for a couple in their 20s, not really into nightlife but like to sight see and relax, no car or drivers licenses though.
I haven't been on holiday in a few years and I'm a bit nervous about flying at the moment (I'm a terribly nervous flyer anyway!) and I'm slightly neurotic about having everything planned in advance and not forgetting anything so if anyone has any tips in general that might ease my planning mind that would be great.
Never travelled anywhere last minute before.. usually have 6 months to sort out my things!
Anyone know if it is good value to book the travel lounges either at Cardiff or Paphos? Have an Egg card so can get the discount.

Hi
We went to Paphos a couple of years ago for a family wedding and so saw a lot of the hotels as we visited different family members.
If you want to relax the best beaches are at Coral Bay which is 10 minutes up the road by bus - the busses are extremely frequent and only £1.
Other than that the Louis Imperial is an excellent hotel with a lot going on or going up towards Coral Bay there is the Venus Beach which is also well regarded.2007 Comping challenge wins so far: April: 1 pair James tickets, May: 1 pair VIP tickets to Knowsley Hall Music Festival, 1 pair Justin Timberlake tickets, lipsy necklace, June: 1 pair cornershop tickets
Total value won so far: £583!!!! :j :j :j0 -
Try not to let your need to plan get in the way of having a good time! If you have the essentials - tickets/passport/credit card - then if you forget owt else you can buy one when you get there I'm sure.
Just go with the flow, accept the country for itself and enjoy the differences. We're off to Cyrus in just over a weeks time too! :-)0 -
Jump on the bus and do the tomb of the kings but do it in the morning because it will be hot in the afternoon.
Cyprus does have a realy good bus network get a timetable from the hotel reception and make the most of it.
Even though your HB make sure you eat out at least one night the local food is really good and number 1 rule RELAXIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
I would also suggest a trip to the Troodos Mountains. We went on an organised one and had a brilliant day."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0

As already said, all you really need is ticket/passport/money - the rest are merely incidentals and can be picked up locally, often cheaper than here at home. I'd almost recommend throwing a few bits into a case at the last minute and enjoy the spontaneity of getting anything else once you get there - if only to prove to yourself that you can't always plan for every eventuality.
Cyprus is a truly stunning island and most people around the resorts speak very good English. There's so much to see and do and the local food is absolutely amazing - provided you like meat and/or fish!
One thing you absolutely must have for any foreign holiday is an insurance plan. At the very least make sure you have the new EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) which replaces the now-defunct E111. There's nothing worse than being stranded away from home when someone falls ill.
As a couple, take comfort in eachother and just enjoy the experience. You really couldn't have chosen a better destination than Cyprus!0
